When looking to buy a facial epilator you may find yourself a bit unsure as to which epilator to choose. The main question is should you buy an epilator that is specifically designed for the removal of fine hair from the face? Or should you buy a normal epilator which comes with head attachments that allow the epilator to be used on the face? What is the difference? Well it all depends on how you intend on using the epilator. If you do not intend to use the epilator on areas other than your face, it would probably be best to choose an epilator which has been designed for facial use only. Facial epilators are usually slimmer and easier to use than regular epilators. They are also generally less expensive, so this decision may save you money in the long run.
If, however, you do intend to used the epilator you buy on other areas of your body as well as your face, such as the legs and underarm area, it would be wise to choose an epilator which can be used on all areas, including the face. So, once you have made up your mind on whether to get a facial epilator or a regular epilator, you may be wondering, which epilator is the best choice for me. What to look for in a facial epilator?
Gentle
A good facial epilator should be gentle on the skin. It shouldn’t operate too fast and it should by no means ever grip the skin. Look out for epilators with curved heads which allow them to move effortlessly on the surface of the skin. A curved or contoured head lets an epilator reach all the hairs while avoiding the risk of nipping the skin on any awkward spots.
Precise
When removing unwanted hair from the face precision is key. It can be difficult to manipulate some larger epilators over small areas such as the upper lip. Look for an epilator with a small head which can easily be used on such areas. Keep in mind that some larger epilators come which precision attachments which makes them much easier to use on the face.
Bellabe Facial Hair Remover are a really unique way to remove unwanted hair from the face. These gadgets stand out from the crowd because the are inexpensive and are quite effective. Bellabe Facial Hair Removers are manually operated and consist of a tight spring which is set between two handles. To operate the Bellabe, you bend the spring into an upside down U-shape, as seen in the image. You then remove the hair by placing the U-shaped spring on the skin and gently twisting the handles in towards each other in a clockwise and anti-clockwise manner while rolling the spring along the skin.
Bending the spring allows the bands on the spring to separate. As the spring is twisted and rolled, the spring catches the hair and pulls it from the root. This use of a spring in hair removal is how the very first electronic epilator operated. The best thing about the Bellabe is that it is portable and you need no power source to use it. The not so great thing about the Bellabe is that you may need nerves of steel to twist the spring on some particularly sensitive areas. The slower you go the more discomfort you may feel, so perhaps an electronically operated epilator may suit us sensitive types.
The Braun SE7681 Silk-épil 7 is an outstanding epilator that just about ticks all the boxes. Not only is it a regular epilator which can be used on the legs and underarms, it is also gentle enough to be used on sensitive areas such as the upper lip and chin as well as the bikini area. It is cordlessly operated so all you have to do is just charge it up and within an hour you can epilate continuously for 40 minutes without any annoying wires or batteries getting in the way and wasting any of your time. The Silk-épil is a wet/dry epilator meaning you can use it in the shower or bath, which is known to reduce epilation discomfort.
The Philips HP6576 Satin Perfect Deluxe Epilator is another all over body epilator which is designed to be used on all areas of the body including the face. This epilator’s textured ceramic discs can easily grip even the slightest of hairs including those found on the upper lip and chin. It’s contoured head allows for a comfortable and safe epilation of such delicate facial areas. It’s built in light helps you to spot those small stray hairs which can be so easily missed.
The Norvika Tweeze Automatic Tweezer is exactly that, an automatic tweezer. It pinpoints even the smallest hairs and removes them quickly and painlessly, 30 times faster than any manual tweezer. It is much better than a manual tweezer as it removers hairs without any pulling, scratching or irritation of the skin. The Norvika Tweeze is so small and portable you can take it with you anywhere.
The Emjoi Epi Slim Epilator is a battery operated facial epilator. It’s slim design lends to it’s use on sensitive areas such as the upper lip, chin, bikini area and the underarms. Though the Emjoi Epi is designed for these delicate areas, it can also be used to touch up other areas such as the legs. As it is slim, it is discrete and very portable so you can take it with you when you travel, with no need to worry about adapters for plugs as, like we said, this epilator is battery operated.
